of the calculation.
Standard, reduced and special rates
Reduced and special rates apply to particular supplies under national rules. Check the classification of your goods or services before using one. Zero-rating and exemption also have different consequences for deducting input VAT.
Cross-border sales
The customer's country alone does not determine what VAT to charge. The type of sale, where it is taxed and the customer's status can change the treatment.
EU guidance on cross-border VAT ↗Regional exceptions and countries outside the EU
The table covers EU member states. Regional exceptions are not included. The UK, Norway and Switzerland are outside this comparison.

The EU overview provides the baseline for this comparison. National sources below supplement it, including rates missing from the overview. We check the listed rates monthly and refresh the checked date even when they have not changed.
This is a rate reference, not a classification of every product or service. Confirm the applicable rate and effective date with the national tax authority. The calculator does not decide whether a sale is taxable, exempt or subject to reverse charge.
